Don't know why, but I was just reminded of a time when 2 friends and I were in the little town of Oradea in Communist Romania.
We met many local people and one of them brought us to a tiny, very brightly painted wooden house with a grey cat up on the roof staring down. It seems their son had managed to escape from Romania and was living in Chicago.
As we were sitting inside on their shabby couch, surrounded by newly hatched chickens and their mother, the grandfather began to rock back and forth in his chair, covering his eyes and repeating a phrase over and over in Hungarian.
My friend Chip spoke the language so I asked him what the man was saying, and it was this: "how good is our God to have brought you here, how good is our God to have brought you here, how good is our God to have brought you here."
Please know that that is the heart's cry of the Ugandans you are meeting. They are seeing the goodness of God just by you being there. They are feeling special and noticed and important simply by your presence among them.
Love to all,
Miss Ward
